AN OVERVIEW OF PARKINGTON ACADEMY

Parkington Academy of the Performing Arts is a private school for girls located in downtown Boston, and is home to over 500 talented middle and high school students. Students are accepted to Parkington on scholarships. We are all here to develop our skills in the performing arts, focusing on either dance, drama or music. We are a very diverse group with one thing in common...to achieve our dream of becoming the best we can be.

Students at Parkington spend their mornings in Merriman Hall attending classes to fulfill their yearly academic requirements for math, language arts, history, science, foreign language, and electives. Next door to Merriman Hall is the Walker Library, open to students from 7am until 8pm. The rest of the day is spent on developing their talents at the Albright Theater. The Albright Theater includes not only a beautiful, elegantly designed theater at the forefront, but also two conservatories and individual practice rooms for musicians, six large dance studios, and four acting studios equipped with their own stages for the dramatic arts. In addition to the Albright Theater, our campus has a state-of-the-art Fitness Center with a lap pool in order for students to maintain physical fitness while studying at Parkington. There is also a Student Center with a cafeteria, bookstore, and registrars office.

We have four residence halls to house our students~Smithens is for the middle-school students, and Thompson, Bergman and Fleming house the high-school students . Residence Halls are divided into suites. Each suite consists of 5 double rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a large living room. Quiet time begins at 9pm prompt, with lights out by 10pm every night except Saturday with lights out at 11pm.

Parkington is a wonderful, intense, and challenging school. It is an honor to be a student here, one of the "Parkington Players".
